The antique pieces span four centuries of design: from beautiful walnut and 17th century oak through to the finest mahogany, and satinwood examples of the Georgian, Regency and Victorian periods. The department hosts four specialist auctions a year; previous highlights have included a portrait by Richard WIlson for £24000, a serving table in the manner of William Kent for £19000, a still life by Alberto Morocco for £13000, a Regency giltwood mirror for £9000, pair of Coalbrookdale benches for £7000 and an easel mirror owned by Marie Antoinette for £8500
