[Abbott, Edwin A. as A Square]. 1884 Flatland, a Romance of Many Dimensions. First edition, first issue, publ. Seeley & Co. Publisher's orig. card wraps with pictorial glassine dust wrapper, some discolouration & age toning to dw commensurate with age, light loss to bumped extremities and to the tail of the spine, the odd small stain to front & one or two spots, pencil squiggle to verso of wrapper, no prior ownership inscriptions, half title present, edges uncut and the odd spot to first and final leaves, binding tight & pages generally clean. A scarce first edition of Edwin Abbott Abbott's satirical novella commentating on Victorian society, better remembered for its depiction of dimensions, complete in the less common glacine wraps. 4to.
