EARLY 20TH CENTURY PORTUGUESE PALISSY MAJOLICA CHARGER

An early 20th century Portuguese Palissy ware grotesque majolica charger plate by Jose a Cunha. The charger modelled with naturalistic relief grassy glaze featuring central lizard eating a snake surrounded by smaller lizards, a frog, insects & a worm. Marked to verso with impressed mark Jose A Cunha Portugal, Caldas Rainha. Small amount of loss to the grassy rim.

Measures approx. 31cm in diameter.
