TOMMY COOPER - ORIGINAL OWNED AND WORN ICONIC RED FEZ
Tommy Cooper (1921-1984) - Welsh Comedian & Magician - an icon of British pop culture - an original red cardinal Fez hat as owned, worn, and used by Tommy Cooper. Typical red felt construction, with a black leatherette edge and black tassel to top. Autographed to the interior with inscription, in black ink by Cooper along with his iconic catchphrase 'Just Like That' and further dated 1965. Generally in excellent used condition.
Provenance: previously sold by Hansons Auctioneers in 2023. Exact provenance is unknown, but it had been given in the 1990s to the previous owner by a customer of theirs, who knew they were Tommy Cooper fans. Cooper would very often gift his fezzes or donate them to charity raffles or special fans. He was particularly known to do this at after-dinner speech engagements where the fez would sometimes be raffled or auctioned off at the end of the night, after his entertainment had concluded.
